Nip Snip Tuck Tuck

Isn't it common knowledge that no one is perfect? So why is everyone striving to have perfection in EVERYTHING? Now I am always striving to be better just like the next person: better work ethics, better performance, better health, better state of mind, etc..I would even work on elevating my style too, get a great haircut, learn about beauty tips. All sounds nice right?

This begs me to ask the question: with all the available things that can make women look much better, why do attractive women get plastic surgery?

I won't get into my opinion of being for or against plastic surgery, I just want to bring up whether it's necessary to get under full anesthesia in a major surgery that has its real risks when you are already an attractive woman. Maybe not a perfect woman, but no one is.

I know a woman who is a classic text book MILF, Stifler's mom (sans the leopard print and indecent behavior),
a hot mama...basically a BEAUTIFUL woman. This woman decided to get work done on her face and the result is the classic fake-looking nose and lips you see so often on many Arabic singers and celebrities. Now every time I see her, I feel cheated. She is no longer the beautiful woman, she is the woman with the deceptive features. Not only that, but now I can't even concentrate on what she is saying. Her fake nose is like a bull's eye I can't look away from. I have to FOCUS to listen to what she's saying instead of staring at her nose and drifting in though about how her plastic surgeon is such an idiot from not stopping her to do this to her already beautiful features.

Can someone tell me when did bras become the enemy? I know lingerie in and out. There are bras that lift and separate, bras that bring "girls closer", cleavage enhancers, minimizer bras, push up bras, sport bras so your girls don't bounce when you are. I think it is a MUCH cheaper and sensible option to opt for the bra that suits your needs than go under the knife.

Could the same be said about makeup? Perhaps. However, the makeup comes off and you are left with the raw you ready to go to the gym or to bed. One image that I absolutely adore is the face of a woman who just had a baby. No makeup, tears rolling down her face, face swollen, eyes tired, and a huge smile. There is something so magical in one of the most unglamorous moments a women could have.

Does that mean that we should all wash our face and get out the door? Not necessarily. But it would be great if we work with what we've got and make it as best as we can in noninvasive ways. Don't we all admire women who look great for their age, than those who attempt to look younger in extreme ways?

  2. Thank you amazing Susan ;)
That Dove ad is one of my fave ads of all time. It's so powerful & conveys the message completely.
I also find it really hard to believe that a woman who lives a healthy lifestyle, dresses the way that suits her, get a good haircut, and wears simple enhancing makeup would need anything invasive to look "beautiful".
Heck, even cancer patients who have gone through enormous ordeals, when they're fighting and surviving with a smile on their face, it's so beautiful.
